One of the greatest things about having a boat is that soon after you acquire this luxury you’ve been wanting for all your life, you get to go shopping all over again for the electronics you want on-board. Marine electronics as a category covers a broad selection: communications equipment, weather equipment, and entertainment equipment are just a few. Humminbird is ready with a variety of marine electronics that will make your boat the envy of all the other boat owners. Are you ready to learn more?

When you’re outfitting your boat with electronic equipment, a great place to start is with safety equipment. All the entertainment gadgets in the world don’t mean much if your boat is in trouble and you’re trying to reach help. Humminbird provide you the complete coverage with a choice of 5 different VHF radios. The VHF255s and the VHF255sw are fixed-mount radios made from rugged, submersible materials, with U.S. and International channels, and advanced Digital Selective Calling (DSC) capability. They’re identical except that the VHF255s is black and the VHF255sw is white. Humminbird also offers three handheld models: the VHF55s, the VHF55sc, and the VHF55s-Plus. The first two are identical except for color. The VHF55s is black and the VHF55sc is camo-designed. Both use 6 AA batteries. the VHF55s-Plus has a rechargeable NiMH battery and a charger.

Humminbird offers five series of GPS/Sonar combination units, from the 300 series. which is small and simple to the large and multi-featured 1100 series. As for fish finders, Humminbird offers 4 series: the PiranhaMAX series, the Fishin’ Buddy Series, the SmartCast Series, and Ice Fishing Flashers.

The PiranhaMAX sonar series ranges from the PiranhaMAX 150, with four level gray scale display and single beam sonar ($79.99) to the PiranhaMAX 230 Portable, with four level gray scale screen and dual beam sonar and SmartCast Wireless Remote Sonar Sensor for $199.99.

The Fishin’ Buddy series starts with the 110 model with four level gray scale and single beam sonar that needs no wiring, rigging, or transducer to set up. It costs $119.99. The 140c Fishin’ Buddy has a 256 color display, down and side looking sonar, and it does not require wiring, rigging, or a transducer to set up either. The 140c is $269.99.

The Wireless Sonar Link of the Smart Cast Series connects any Humminbird fish finding system with the SmartCast Remote Sonar Sensor to reveal fish and structural features up to the distance of hundred feet in any direction. It’s $99.99. The RF15 has advanced remote sonar sensor wireless technology and a 4-level gray scale display for $149.99. The RF35 is a portable fish finder with advanced remote sonar sensor technology that is wrist mounted, so that it’s the obvious choice in portable fish finders. It is only 79 dollars.99.

When it comes to ice fishing flashers, the ICE 35 provides you with a three color fiber optic monitor with an accurate, readable overlay depth dimensioning. It has a dual beam transducer and 800 watts peak-to-peak power and costs $299.99. The ICE 45 and ICE 55 are progressively fancier, with the 55 having six color display and loads of other features for $499.99.

While shopping for electronics to outfit your boat may not be as exciting as buying the boat itself, it’s definitely a close second. Humminbird makes it easy for you to outfit your vessel with top quality VHF radios, GPS systems, fish finders, and ice fishing flashers.

I remember back when I was a teenager I was fishing with an old friend. She got a hot tip from his friend that walleyes bite on a local lake. As I said in a previous post, I did not fish for walleyes at the moment, so I do not know too much, but I was interested.

Well, this boy a 12-foot aluminum boat, the base engine, and a concrete block tied to a rope to an anchor. Oh, and the combination of anchor rope was our depth sounder. We limped around the general areaunder "polls" with the anchor, until we thought we were in about the right place. All that we took that night was a beautiful series of Bullhead.

There is nothing to do … Do you really need to get some kind of electronics to tell how far the bottom of the lake is under your boat. Anyone who has a lot of fishing should really invest in a kind of sonar. The word "sonar" is an acronym for "Sound Navigation and Ranging." E 'was developed during World War II for tracking enemyU-Boot. A sonar consists of a transmitter, the transmitter, receiver and display.

Fisheries sonar devices transmits an electrical impulse, which have been converted into a sound wave transmitted from the transducer and water. This wave strikes an object and bounce, hit the echo of the transducer, which converts into an electrical signal that is interpreted by the receiver and displayed. Sound in water at a constant speed of about 4,800 meters per second. Knowing this, the timebetween the transmitted signal and the echo received can be measured and determined the distance of the object. This process is repeated several times per second.

In practice, most fishing sonar display will consist of a liquid crystal display. On most units, the screen scrolls to give you a series of readings, as the signals bounce from the bottom of the lake. Even the less expensive units will have a display similar, although the majority on the bottom of the white and black. The scalethe page gives you the depth of reading and a solid line and continuous horizontal represents the earth. Fish is a hook halfway between the surface and the bottom. Sonar gives you an instant reading, so that a constant stream of information flowing to the device. If you cruise along the coast or at any point, you can find the sonar to look sharp drops or bumps on the surface. Moreover, most fishermen will use sonar to determine whetherthere are no fish around. If you do not see Tell-tale hook, it's usually time to throw a bait into the water. Rather difficult to grasp what is not there!

These two units are the basic units of sonar … color and black and white. Nor would it be for the angler who wants to control the depth and location of fish, enough:

As if this innovation is not enough, now we are in the era of combined technologies of sonar and GPS. Many of you have a Garmin orSome others, such as the navigation device in your car. Now, imagine how it would be nice if you have a detailed map of the contours of the lake have been right to fish on your depth-finder did. Well, I'm pleased to say that this technology has for some time. The image on the left side has generated a typical picture of modern electronic fishing. Units, the GPS functions are usually have to take a slot for SD memory cards from companies such as Mastercard or Navionics Lake. These companiesMapping of the popular lakes for hours and produce high quality paper, like those on the left side. The best of these maps are very detailed fine lines as three feet. Combined with global positioning your boat's position is superimposed on this map (which you can enlarge or reduce our more or less accurately) in which you are a visual representation of your position on the lake, compared to the physical properties that can be seen on their paper. It 'used to sing me a good 10 minutes here and thereTo find a mid-pile Rock Lake in my Favorite local lake. And even then I could not end that I was. The chip in my Lowrance LakeMaster I just landed and go right at the Rockpile. Conjectures gone. Like all things electronic spectrum of reasonable prices ridiculous. We can expect to shell out $ 600 – $ 700 for a color sonar / GPS unit with a 5-inch screen. More if you go for the larger screen.

The end result is that the pikeFisherman's Arsenal really need to have some form of sonar. The basic unit is the depth and fish marking is sufficient for most fishermen. This makes it much easier to capture job # 1 when venturing out for your favorite lake … and that the fish is to find!

HDS-8 Insight USA Multifunction Fishfinder/Chartplotter w/ 50/200 kHz Transducer Reviews

HDS-8 Insight USA Multifunction Fishfinder/Chartplotter w/ 50/200 kHz Transducer Reviews

Helpful Review: I have this unit for almost 1 year in possession. It was great. No problem. I would recommend always the base map for most people, there is the Insight-mapping a collection of postcards that FHS may not apply to you, the lake fish. It is better to use the $ 200 you save a Navionics card or two specific regions to buy fish. The base map is pretty good on the device.

This makes sense, I think the power is unrivaled, it's all on the market. Sonar broadbandis great, no problems of water more or less deep plagued the previous-generation unit (500 series in the sense) occurs. I am also pleased with the antenna built into the device. I know that the exterior should be accurate, but I've never been a problem in which an integrated device, as it's always about me from a few meters from all my waypoints. I also like the fact that it adds Down / Side Scannig may at a later date, which, to obtain from theseFeatures such as the budget allows.

This is a learning curve with some of the functions. You need the type of transducer, the type of connection you choose GPS, etc.. to optimize performance. Furthermore, the combinations are overwhelimng is to be used as a learning algorithm of a new computer operating system. But this is still a fact of life, how they grow and complex units. Read more helpful reviews

Not suitable for Alaska – Linden Beckham – Delta Junction, AK
I have the HDS-8 with Insight USA. Insight United States has very low resolution in Alaska. Everything you see, if you are employed in the zoom Shaded Relief (Insight USA) and many pixels, to the point that a blob. Serves no purpose. The function of sonar is a bit 'disappointing, too. The text on the screen with the base map shows the number of Lowrance understand a very small text. Difficult to read even with bifocals. I bought the Navionics Platinum chip installed in AlaskaThe software update, then the chip. Everything seemed OK until you try to fathom the basemap Navionics use and start looking for readings. Not exist everywhere. When you begin to see not reduce access to some interesting articles … flamingos. Not very useful, though. I tried to find contacts and Lowrance Navionics a solution, so far not responded. I can not recommend the purchase of any other, or Lowrance HDS-8 or Navionics Platinum for Alaska. Far too many bugssoftware. Do not buy if you live in Alaska. Stick with Garmin.
